Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards: Entry Terms & Conditions
By submitting an entry to the Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards, entrants agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility
Entries must meet the eligibility requirements set out for the relevant award category.
Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their submission is entered into the most appropriate category and that all information provided relates to the eligibility criteria and relevant qualifying period specified by the organisers.
The organisers reserve the right to determine whether an entry meets the eligibility requirements of a particular category.
2. Submission of Entries
All entries must be submitted through the official awards entry process by the published closing date.
Entries received after the deadline may not be considered, unless the organisers have formally extended the submission period or they have received an extension by the organiser.
The organisers reserve the right to amend or extend entry deadlines where reasonably necessary.
3. Accuracy and Authority
Entrants confirm that, to the best of their knowledge, all information provided within their submission is accurate and not misleading.
Where an entry is submitted on behalf of another individual, team or organisation, the person submitting the entry must have appropriate authority or permission to do so.
Entrants must not include confidential, personal or commercially sensitive information that they are not authorised to disclose.
4. Award Categories
The organisers reserve the right to recommend that an entry is considered within an alternative award category where they believe it is more appropriately placed.
Where appropriate, the entrant will be contacted before any such change is made.
The organisers may also combine, amend or withdraw an award category where circumstances reasonably require this.
5. Supporting Information
Entrants should comply with any word limits, questions, supporting evidence requirements or other instructions stated within the entry form.
Supporting information may be taken into consideration by the judging panel where relevant.
The organisers reserve the right to request clarification or additional information relating to an entry.
6. Verification of Entries
The organisers and judging panel may, where reasonably necessary, seek to verify information contained within a submission.
Entrants may be asked to provide additional evidence to substantiate claims made within their entry.
The organisers reserve the right to reject or disqualify an entry where information is found to be materially inaccurate, misleading or inconsistent with the eligibility criteria.
7. Judging
Entries will be assessed by the appointed judging panel against the published criteria for the relevant award category.
The judging process may include individual scoring, panel discussion and consideration of supporting information.
The decision of the judging panel is final.
The organisers are unable to enter into correspondence regarding individual scores, judging discussions or the final outcome of an award category.
8. Conflicts of Interest
Judges are expected to declare any actual or potential conflict of interest relating to an entry.
Where a conflict is identified, appropriate steps may be taken, including removing the judge from the assessment or discussion of that particular entry.
9. Confidentiality
Information contained within entries will be made available to the organisers and members of the judging panel for the purposes of administering and judging the Awards.
Judges are expected to treat submitted information as confidential.
Entrants should clearly identify any information within their submission that they consider particularly commercially sensitive.
Entrants should not submit confidential information, intellectual property or other material that they are not authorised to disclose.
10. Finalists and Winners
Entrants selected as finalists will be contacted using the details provided within their submission.
The organisers reserve the right to announce finalists and winners through the Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference & Awards website, social media channels, press activity, event materials and other associated communications.
Being selected as a finalist does not guarantee an award.
11. Publicity
By submitting an entry, entrants agree that, if shortlisted as a finalist or selected as a winner, their name, organisation name and appropriate non-confidential information contained within their submission may be used for promotional purposes relating to the Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference & Awards.
This may include use on the event website, social media, press releases, event programmes, presentation materials and other promotional communications.
The organisers may edit submitted information for length, clarity or style, provided that the substance and meaning of the information are not materially changed.
Where appropriate, the organisers may request logos, photographs, biographies or other materials from finalists for use in awards communications.
12. Data Protection
Personal information submitted as part of the awards entry process will be used for the administration, judging and promotion of the Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards.
Information will be handled in accordance with the organiser’s applicable privacy policy and data protection obligations.
Contact information supplied as part of an entry will not automatically be used for unrelated marketing communications unless the appropriate consent has been provided.
13. Changes to the Awards
The organisers reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the awards process, categories, judging arrangements, timetable or event format where circumstances require.
In exceptional circumstances, the organisers may postpone, alter or cancel part or all of the Awards.
14. Acceptance of Terms
Submission of an entry constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
The person submitting the entry is responsible for ensuring that they have the authority to accept these terms on behalf of the individual, team or organisation being entered.
The Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference & Awards reserves the right to refuse or disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions or the published award criteria.
